Send Mom a Mother’s Day message via Skype’s ‘Mom, you rock’ Facebook application

Visit Skype’s Mom You Rock Facebook page to create a fun and unique message for your Mom. Skype is celebrating Mother’s Day by offering a free video greeting card through their Mom You Rock Facebook page.

Mom You Rock is a charity campaign organized by Skype. For every ‘Mom, You Rock‘ video message that is sent, $1 will go to Save the Children’s Global Action Fund in support of the new MomsTheWord.org campaign.

Using Skype’s Mom You Rock application you can create a special video message for a mom in your life in about ten minutes. Say more than you can on a greeting card and best of all, Mom will see your expressions, emotion, and just how much you love her, in your message!

Your mom will need to be on Facebook in order to send her a special Mom You Rock message.

After you click on the Say ‘Mom, you rock’ image on Skype’s Mom, you Rock Facebook page, you will be prompted to choose a Facebook friend (your mom) to send the video greeting to.

Next, choose from three rockin’ songs to feature in your video message.

Last, personalize your Mom, you rock video with short messages like “Happy Mother’s Day”, “We Love You!” and more.

Then send or schedule!

Parents, teens, pre-teens and children will love the Kindle Fire. The best thing about any Kindle is the sheer amount of content available on Amazon, but the Kindle Fire adds app capabilities that push the Kindle Fire into the fully functional Android based tablet class. The Kindle Fire e-reader is set up to be a world class business and entertainment machine.

The small format, pocket-book size and seven inch screen make the Kindle Fire easy to hold in one hand or tuck into a purse or jacket pocket. Even small children will find the Kindle Fire easy to hold and use. The no-slip, rubberized case coating make gripping easy. Rugged case design and the tough Gorilla Glass screen make the Kindle Fire tough enough to leave unattended with the kids. Although the screen size is smaller than the industry leading iPad, the benefits of an easier to hold case footprint and tough exterior make up the difference.

Amazon Prime membership allows Kindle owners the ability to borrow at least one book per month from The Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. The Library contains thousands of books, including at least 100 current and former New York Times Best Sellers. The best part of The Kindle Owner’s Lending Library for the Kindle e-reader is that there are no due dates or late fees.

The full color Kindle Fire displays up to 1,000 children’s books like never before. Little hands can easily turn the pages and the color screen gives a rich, true color look to illustrations. The Comics app by comiXology allows teens, pre-teens and parents access to a large collection of full color comic books.

The Kindle Fire has apps for Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, ESPN ScoreCenter and IMDB for even more content. Games from popular online developers, like Zynga, EA, Gameloft, PopCap and Rovio, plus home and productivity apps make the Fire more than an e-reader. Anything is possible using the Kindle Fire, from money management and entertainment, to a basic shopping list.

Parents will appreciate using the Kindle Fire for home and business needs, entertainment or story-time. Teens and pre-teens will love Kindle Fire’s game, comic and media features.

The Kindle Fire is currently available on Amazon.com for $199.

Chatman is a fun and innovative tool that will help educate and protect kids online.

Chatman looks like a cute toy and hooks up easily to your computer through a USB cable. Your child can name their new friend, give it its own personality and interact with it. While your child is chatting with friends, playing games or doing homework, this new toy will monitor all of their online activities. Your child is protected and you can now have peace of mind because this device will protect your child by monitoring the sites your child goes to and steering them away from any inappropriate websites that may inadvertently pop up.

Recently, Picnik joined this exclusive and, thankfully, small group. This online photo editor was the product of choice for bloggers all over the world. They not only used it for perfecting the images they included with their posts, it was ideal for creating the perfect blog header.

With Picnik exiting the market space, there are a ton of online services that want to absorb their users. Bloggers in particular have unique needs that most will not be able to meet. Still, there are a couple online image editing software products worth considering.

Aviary jumped into the space in 2007 and has been constantly developing solid tools for editing images, video, music and more. They are a fairly complete media editing suite based on the web and free to use. They offer superb cross-platform support that includes Android, iOS all supported versions of Windows. The development philosophy centers around ease of use so even adding frames to images is quick and easy. The text tools are first rate. Add shadows or glitter, animate your message or simply layer it into your photo. With their Web Widget, editing a photo is fast and easy and can be done without leaving the page your image is on.

Pixlr is another strong contender. They offer a wide variety of tools and the interface is very intuitive. Adding frames, working with layers or shadowing is all at your fingertips. They focus only on image editing and the results are quite good. One of the unique features that makes them stand out is the fact that their text editor uses the font library on your computer. They also offer support on Android and iOS.

If you use Picnik, what online image editing service do you plan on using when Picnik shuts down? Tell us in the comments below.

What is Clicker.com?
Clicker.com is the complete guide to Internet Television. Clicker.com makes it easy for me to find the type of show I’m looking for any time. A couple of nights a week, after the kids go to bed I like to watch TV but there are times when I can’t find a good show to watch on TV. Clicker.com lists all types of TV shows and links directly to the website/page where I can actually watch the show I choose.

As massive amounts of programming move online, consumers are entering a world of infinite choices, all on-demand. Great! Finding the show you want to watch? Painful. Thousands of episodes from thousands of shows are housed on thousands of different sites, mixed among billions of random clips and videos.

Clicker catalogs all broadcast programming online, along with TV-quality Web originals, from these silos and delivers them in one seamless, organized experience so you can easily discover what’s available to watch (and what isn’t) online, where to watch it, and what’s worth watching.

With all of the Twitter applications available for our computers and phones, it’s easier than ever to Tweet 24/7 whether at home or on the road. The fact is that the web remains a prime target market for sexual predators and people who want steal identities and can do so with very little but just the right information.
Here are a few Twitter safety tips that I find useful.

Twitter Safety Tip #1:
Never post your full name. If someone ‘Tweets’ you telling you that you won a million dollars and asks for your full name and address.. uh, don’t do it!

Twitter Safety Tip #2:
Don’t advertise to your fellow Tweeters that you are going to Bob’s Dance Club located at 55 Bob Street at 11pm tonight. If you have hundreds of Twitter followers you probably don’t know them all and might not want a few of your Twitter followers to know where they can find you tonight.

Twitter Safety Tip #3:
This is a tip for parents. As a parent of a 9 year old, I know how important Internet safety is. I don’t want my son to have the opportunity to browse Twitter or other social networks so I close all Internet applications when I walk away from the computer.

I know that using Twitter is fun. There’s something addicting about being able to post what you’re doing or what you’re feeling at this exact moment… and having hundreds of followers seeing it. The instant feedback is satisfying especially for Twitter users who don’t have a lot of outside social interaction such as stay-at-home-moms or work-from-home-moms.

The bottom line is that Twitter safety is to be taken seriously. Twitter is a fast paced environment and when people move fast, they tend to not pay as much attention to safety as they should. Don’t you remember your middle school teacher telling you to slow down on your work? Well, that’s what we need to do with Twitter.. slow down and be aware of what’s going on and who’s following you.

Please note that I use and enjoy Twitter am in no way affiliated with Twitter.
